PRODUCTION STATEMENT

Shot in natural sets with a reduced crew, Phenix has been handcrafted in the pure tradition of independant filmmaking. The movie is a silent initiatory journey whith nature at its hearth. The story of Paul, switching from regained humanity to brutal animality, raises questions about the necessity for men to repress their inner nature to create societies. With a rigorous work on the photography, music and narration, the director guides us into a Taxi Driver in the wild, at the crossroads between the universes of Terrence Malick, Martin Scorsese and Nicolas Winding Refn.

SYNOPSIS

Since his childhood, Paul has a particular relationship to violence. Withdrawn wihtin himself, he spends a lot of time alone in nature, developping bestial behavior and senses. Raised in the country close to his brother Alex, he moves to the city as a young adult. There, he is confronted to an urban violence that turns his mind to rage.
